Abstract
My functional ceramic art takes into account the user, its intended function, and the spaces in which it should be used. The utilitarian object is important to our daily ritual. If successfully designed it can enhance the user’s experience. My exploration in sculptural clay work has carried over into the functional pieces I created. Careful attention is paid when designing the form, leaving a soft blank canvas for inlayed line work and deeply carved surfaces that will mesh well with the spontaneity of the firing process. I draw inspiration from the people and places that have graced my life. By doing so, I have created a vibrant body of work.
