Abstract
Data quality has become a large focus of businesses in recent years, as the impact of poor data quality has become more widely recognized. One of the early steps in data quality management is to conduct a maturity assessment. However, it appears that little progress in data quality management has been made in recent years. Implementing a data governance framework can help alleviate data quality maturity issues. Big data presents its own challenges, making data quality management a more difficult task, but big data cannot be addressed until overall data quality is tamed. This thesis sets out to identify current data quality maturity issues and illustrate possible answers to the data quality management issues identified.
