Abstract
French street artist JR (who prefers to keep his real name, birthdate, and other personal information private) raises awareness of world problems while crossing national borders, cultural boundaries, and language barriers. He promotes social change by altering the way people see each other through projects that connect, humanize, and enlighten with a combination of artistic storytelling and activism while taking advantage of technological advancement and globalization. JR gives hope that the world can change and that art can be the stimulus. He gives a voice to the marginalized, defends the oppressed, and continuously fights to unite the world’s population by celebrating universal human dignity. JR is changing the world by shifting global perspectives, one portrait and one story at a time.
