Abstract
This project illustrates the use of interactive media in the form of interactive maps to Display a section of history, the annexation and secession of Argenta, Arkansas. Founded in the late 1860’s, Argenta became a boom town in central Arkansas, just north of Little Rock, the capitol of the state. In 1890, seeking to expand its economic bases, Little Rock annexed the small community. This thesis details the rise of Argenta during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, its time as a ward of Little Rock and its secession, describing the process of creating a Wordpress website in combination with ‘My Maps,’ a Google program. This thesis project, including the web pages and maps, completes the end of the thesis.
