Abstract
One of the most prevalent health challenges among people of all ages in the United States is Diabetes Mellitus that affects 9.3% of the total population. In 2019 Arkansas entered the top 5 states with the highest diabetes death rates (1,144 deaths). Many researchers state that a sedentary lifestyle is considered one of the major risk factors for T2DM and its complications. Regular physical activity is an effective primary and secondary prevention strategy for at least 25 chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes. Our study showed that the variable for physical activity is statistically significant and associated with the incidence of diabetes. even one additional physical activity per month, which is done on an ongoing basis, will reduce diabetes by 0.1%. Keywords: diabetes in Arkansas, physical activity and diabetes, diabetes self-management, socioeconomic status, income, age, marital status, race, and diabetes
