Abstract

I have listened to my father tell about his childhood days since I was a little boy. This collection of stories came about because I wanted to know more about what life was like for Dad and his family during their growing-up years. When Dad passed away in November of 2001, I felt a sense of urgency to get these stories on paper. I interviewed Dad's siblings, Marion Clark, Charlie Clark, and Carolyn Waldo, and these stories—told over a period of a few days back in 2001—tell the story of what life was like for the sons and daughter of Alonzo and Wilma Clark.
