Abstract
When learners cannot find their way through web-based instructional information, they become lost, as a result, learning stops. The operations of human wayfinding behavior (or simply, wayfinding) are the cognitive processes activated when humans must make decisions on how they will move through, primarily, novel situations. This paper examines the utility of incorporating the operations of wayfinding into instructional design models to reduce the likelihood of learners becoming lost in web-based instructional information.
